Meet Dave

dave 015_400px.jpgThanks for visiting the website. My name is Dave and I’m ready to be your photographer.
For me, being able to bring out and capture the best in you in a fun, relaxed photo session is what I enjoy and specialize in. I am a people person. After 17 years in this exciting field, I still get enthusiastic in my work, and that positive energy is contagious! Whether it’s your high school senior portraits, your wedding, your modeling portfolio shoot, or your family portraits my complete dedication to creating images that you will be proud to show is my modus operandi.

History 101:

In the 1980′s as a high school Graphic Arts student I took a few photography courses and was very intrigued. From 1989-1991, I earned a degree as a Graphic Arts/Printing major at Central Maine Technical College. I was somewhat convinced I was going to be a printer. However while at CMTC I continued with photography courses and a new love and fascination was born. Thus in the summer of ’91, I began my studies as a Fine Art Photography major at the Maine Photographic Workshops in Rockport, Maine. While at the Workshops, my life as a photographic artist began to take on a real focus. In ’93, I headed into the field as an assistant for several photographers in the Portland area. In early 1995, Fotografix Studio was founded. Fast forward 17 years and you will find me photographing on location or in my studio in downtown Saco.

Residing in Kennebunk, I enjoy traveling and being in the outdoors whenever I have a chance. Activities such as hiking, backpacking, mountain biking and sea kayaking are some of my favorites. In 2005 my incredible partner Danielle and our then 11 year old son Will became members of the AMC New England Four Thousand Footers Club after climbing the 67 recognized peaks in New England that are four-thousand feet or higher. Hiking has been a huge part of our life. In March 2009 prior to going on safari, we summited 19,340 foot Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa under a clear early morning sky. (see images in The Tanzania Experience). Plans for future climbs include countless peaks in California’s Sierra’s, Cerro Aconcagua in Argentina and climbs in Europe and the Himalaya’s.
