David BatesI have been a Maine wedding, portrait and commercial photographer since 1995 and I absolutely love my job. For me, being able to bring out the best in you in a fun, relaxed, no-stress photo session is what I enjoy and specialize in. I've often been told I remove the awkwardness of getting your picture taken. I enjoy conversation and learning new, interesting things about my clients. Everyone has something beautiful about them if you take the time to notice. After 22 years in the field, my energy, enthusiasm and deep rooted passion to create lasting images sustains me more than ever. Whether it’s your wedding, your high school senior portraits, your business head shots or your family portraits, my complete dedication is in creating images that you will be proud to show and hold onto forever.
Living in Kennebunk with my lovely wife Danielle and our dog Baxter, we enjoy traveling and being outdoors whenever we can. You’ll often find us hiking, backpacking, mountain biking and kayaking. In 2004 after Danielle, our son Will and I climbed the 67 recognized peaks in New England that are 4,000 feet or higher, we joined the Appalachian Mountain Club’s New England 'Four Thousand Footers Club'. In March 2009 we took the trip of a lifetime by summiting Africa’s 19,340 foot Mt. Kilimanjaro, followed by a week long safari in Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater Highlands in Tanzania. Plans for future climbs include peaks in California’s Sierra Nevada Range, Cerro Aconcagua in Argentina and climbs in the European Alps.
It would be my privilege to be your photographer. I love doing this everyday, and can't wait for the next chance I get to put all my energy, heart and soul into making beautiful pictures for you. I hope to hear from you soon!
